fancified palette

inspired by an ornate, velvet backed little painting at a flea market in ghent, this ceramic painting is a self-framed palette of ceramic studio color marks.

most times when after a mark or gesture is made, there is still some paint remaining on the brush that needs to be removed before the next color mark may be cleanly made. in the painting studio i will often use another surface (collected canvas rags, canvas tote bags etc.) to wipe off and save most of the pigment before moving on, and i thought it would be fun to try the same idea with glaze. souvenirs of process, always!

this ceramic painting is constructed to hang directly on the wall, and is shipped wired and ready to go.
